Silver Creamer from the Paris Residence of Prince Felix Yusupov

Silver Creamer from the Paris Residence of Prince Felix Yusupov

This antique silver-plated creamer features a bulbous body, a flared spout, and a narrow neck encircled by an engraved decorative band with floral and zoomorphic motifs, including a central winged creature reminiscent of imperial heraldry. The handle, likely crafted from dark wood or patinated metal, is adorned with a floral embellishment where it joins the body, reflecting the refined ceremonial aesthetic of late 19th-century aristocratic tableware. The surface bears natural tarnish and wear, consistent with age and use, enhancing its historical character.

This piece originates from the Parisian residence of Prince Felix Yusupov, a Russian nobleman best known for his role in the assassination of Rasputin and for his opulent lifestyle in exile following the Russian Revolution. A patron of the arts and collector of European antiquities, Yusupov maintained a residence in Paris filled with objets d’art, heirlooms, and furnishings that reflected his imperial heritage and cosmopolitan taste.

Curator’s Note: As the current custodian of this item, I confirm its authenticity and provenance. This creamer is offered for sale as part of a private collection of historically significant tableware. Its craftsmanship and origin make it a rare and evocative artifact of aristocratic life in interwar Paris.
