Boots of Richard Ramirez
Richard Ramirez, known as the "Night Stalker," was an American serial killer active mainly in California between 1984 and 1985. Born in 1960 in El Paso, Texas, to a Mexican immigrant family, Ramirez committed at least 14 confirmed murders, along with numerous sexual assaults, robberies, attempted murders, and burglaries. His victims were of all ages and backgrounds: men, women, elderly people, and children.
He would break into homes at night (or sometimes during the day), often through open windows, killing with various weapons (knives, guns, hammers), raping, and torturing. He often left satanic symbols, like pentagrams drawn with lipstick, and forced victims to swear allegiance to Satan.
Influenced by a traumatic childhood (including witnessing the murder of his cousin's wife by a Vietnam War veteran) and an interest in the occult and heavy metal music (particularly AC/DC, from which his nickname is derived from the song "Night Prowler"), Ramirez terrorized Los Angeles and San Francisco, causing a wave of panic.
He was captured in 1985 thanks to fingerprints and testimonies, tried in a highly publicized trial, sentenced to death for 13 murders and other crimes, but died in 2013 in prison due to health complications.
The boots worn by Richard Ramirez himself. His mother, Mercedes Munoz Ramirez, certificied their provenance.
