PAL Inject-P-Matic Razor of Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler
There are objects that speak louder than words. This PAL Inject-O-Matic razor, with its gold-toned head and ribbed gray handle, is one of them. It's not just a vintage grooming tool-it's the personal razor of Albert DeSalvo, the man known as the Boston Strangler.
Used daily by DeSalvo during the early 1960s, this razor was part of his morning ritual. Before stepping out into the streets of Boston, before assuming the mask of a polite, clean-cut man, he would stand before the mirror and shave with this very instrument. The PAL Inject-O-Matic was his companion in routine-precise, discreet, and efficient.
The metal shows signs of wear, the handle bears the subtle polish of repeated use. The blade injector, still intact, tells of practiced movements- quick, methodical, almost rehearsed. DeSalvo was obsessed with appearances. He knew how to blend in, how to seem harmless. This razor helped him maintain that illusion.
Now it rests in my hands. And I do not see it as a mere collectible. I see it as a fragment of a double life. A silent witness to the thin line between normalcy and horror.
Between the man and the monster.
I keep it with respect-not to glorify, but to remember. To remind myself how easily evil can wear the face of the ordinary.
