Prussian Officer Sword from Königgrätz Battlefield
This sword is more than just an object — it is a fragment of history. Of German origin, it belonged to an officer of the Prussian army and was recovered from the battlefield of Königgrätz, during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866.
The long, straight blade, the curved metal guard, the wrapped grip - every detail speaks of discipline, hierarchy, and conflict. Königgrätz was a turning point: a battle that marked the decline of the Austrian Empire and the rise of Prussia as the dominant German power. This sword was there, in the hands of a man who lived through that decisive moment.
I preserve it with respect, not as a trophy, but as a witness. Every scratch, every trace of oxidation is a fingerprint of time. It is an object that questions, that tells, that remembers. And every time I look at it, I'm reminded how history lives on in the things that survive US.
