Vodoo dolls of Dictator Francois Papa Doc Duvalier
These three objects, similar in form and function, constitute a ceremonial triad of voodoo dolls attributed to Haitian president François "Papa Doc" Duvalier. Crafted from organic materials— dark fur, coarse fabrics, ritual bindings-they embody the fusion of spiritual authority and political control. Each figure, faceless yet intentional, serves as a conduit of occult will: instruments to shield the leader's body, bind the loyalty of allies, or strike down enemies from afar.
Their simultaneous presence suggests a trinitarian conception of dominion: body, spirit, and fate. In them converge fear and faith, superstition and strategy, in a perfect balance between ancestral religion and modern authoritarianism.
These are not mere objects, but presences-silent, motionless, yet charged with an energy that still unsettles.
